Top 5 Home EV Chargers
We live in a day and age where electric vehicles are becoming more readily available and increasingly popular. If you are someone who’s made the eco-friendly jump then you are no doubt going to want a home EV charger installed in your home. Having a car charger at home is BY FAR the most efficient and cost effective way to charge your battery.
But with all the different options available it can be quite hard to decide which car charger is best for your home. There are a number of different factors to consider when choosing the car charger you want installed in your home - and it can be quite hard to tell the difference from one charger to another.
That’s why we’ve put together this list of the top 5 EV chargers available on the market. This list is in no particular order but we are confident that this list will be all anyone will ever need.
1: MyEnergi Zappi v2.1
MyEnergi Zappi is the smartest car charger on the market. It comes with built-in PEN fault detection via an in-built RCD. This means if there is an earth fault present that could give anyone making contact with the EV a shock, it will trip the internal RCD and prevent you from getting a serious injury. It also comes with load management via a CT clamp which will allow you to run an electric shower at the same time without causing any overload issues.
It is also capable of connecting to solar panels very easily allowing you to potentially charge your EV for free. The built-in WiFi hub on the Zappi also allows you to control and monitor your home charger from your phone giving you the most control out of any of the other chargers on the market.
2: Ohme Home Pro
The Ohme Home Pro is another smart piece of equipment. Much smaller in size than the Zappi, it comes with most of the same features as the Zappi. And unlike other small home chargers on the market this too has a display screen on it.
Although not quite to the same effect as Zappi it does have potential for solar charging and a smart app. The other main advantage the Ohme Home Pro has over other EV chargers on the market is that it is a totally sealed unit. This helps maintain the IP rating of the car charger and gives you piece of mind that your lovely expensive home charger won’t get water-damaged. The Ohme Home Pro also has load management via a CT clamp.
3: EO Mini Pro 2
The EO Mini Pro 2 is the smallest EV charger available on the market. However, do not let it’s size fool you. This charger is a power-packed machine that can give your electric vehicle just as quick of a charge as any other domestic charger on the market.
With full control of your home charger via a smart app, load management via a CT clamp and the option of tethered or untethered - this little giant can stand just as tall as some of it’s competitors on the market.
4: Wallbox Pulsar Plus
The wallbox pulsar plus is one of the most popular chargers on the market. And at a quick glance it’s very easy to see why. Much like the EO Mini Pro 2, this charger is small and discreet but packs a lot of power for something so small - it can even charge up to 22kW!
Once again we have load management via either a CT clamp or a modular load management device in your fuseboard.
5: Garo Wallbox
Garo has been one of the leading manufacturers in the electrical industry for some time now. This means if you want something that you can rely on then you can always count on this. It’s also possibly the best-looking charger on the market even if it is slightly bigger. It does have load management - although only via a modular device that would go in your fuseboard. So if you’re tight for space this may be a slight dilemma. It also can connect to your phone but this again requires an extra part. However for a bog-standard ‘plug in and play’ home charger this one fits the bill perfectly.
I’m sure you won’t need to go any further than this list. However if you’re still struggling to decide which charger would best fit you and your home then just get in touch and we’ll be happy to help.
